I grow my own indigo... the pigment is in the leaves
indigo pigment forms through fermentation of the leaf... indoxyl is dissolved from the leaves; the pigment rich liquid is then reserved, alkalized and oxidized to form indigotin; when settled, the pigment is dried and used in my vat :)
